portion above to be Η ΚΑΙ instead, then the inscription is exactly parallel to Acts 13:9, where a masculine form of this construction connects two names, ÒSaul, who
is also called Paul.Ó We would then have ÒMariam, who is also called Mara,Ó and the name ÒMariamneÓ disappears!
